When we fail to grow spiritually for one of many reasons, is it because of the lure of the world?

Living in this world is a spiritual experience. You grow regardless of whether you believe you are or not. You may not understand yourself as growing, but your soul and being respond to challenge and adversity regardless of whether the conscious mind understands it as such.
