How do you experience altered states of consciousness?

Perhaps the easiest ways to do this without drugs or long periods of time spent trying to meditate is to use the time after waking and before you get out of bed to sort of zone out. You get ‘waking dreams’ this way but are fully conscious and have a small amount of control over them. I enjoy this so much that after fifteen years of meditating, I see little need to augment it with seated practice.

Note that like any kind of mystical practice, if you want it to be more than entertainment, you need to read and study and take spiritual knowledge seriously. Otherwise it’s just like watching TV.
