This is amazingly common. It very often turns up in mental health patients and it gets classified as psychosis. As of this writing, there was an element of this in the fiction series Better Call Saul, the main character announces to a top lawyer in the region, who made money hand over fist over him, that he had godlike abilities and was better than him.
It’s extremely tempting to look at this sort of thing with an adversarial eye. Either he’s right or he’s wrong right? Who can prove what, what do these interactions really say?
What’s almost never appreciated is the spiritual perspective. We are spiritual babies. By that I mean that just as how when we are physical infants and trying to learn how to inhabit our bodies and understand the physical world, as soon as we master those skills, we enter a world in which we’re intellectual children and have to learn the skills needed to enter into adulthood.
And just like physical infancy, what we learn and do and develop are carried with us until they’re no longer relevant, i.e. death. Mental infancy starts after we leave toddlerhood and continues on until we finish school. Once we leave the environment carefully constructed to provide for our mental development, further mental development is solely at our discretion.
Once we leave mental infancy we enter into emotional infancy. What makes us happy and healthy adults actually has very very little to do with our intellectual capabilities. We must learn how to relate to each other, how to love and care.
Compared to spiritual existence in what we now call the afterlife, well, not much of what happened here is relevant after death. We no longer have our physical bodies, the angels take care of any emotional deficiencies we held onto, and the endless amount of time we have available makes mental development simple and easy.
Instead what is relevant is something that rides on top of all of that. The only thing that’s truly important in this world is that we develop the thing that we love the most. That which you’re itching to do once all the barriers are removed. Because all the barriers will be removed. And you can do pretty much anything, provided it’s mediated through the Lord, that pervasive and omnipotent entity that channels our wishes and desires into something useful and sustainable.
A big part of that channeling is spiritual existence. Let’s say you want to do stuff that nobody else wants you to do. Say you love inflicting pain onto other sentient beings. If you just sat around and imagined people hurting others, well that’s not much of an existence is it? No, God’s going to place you around people here on Earth, spiritual babies, and let you take part in their thoughts and dreams, along with all the other beings that share your sadistic aims.
The number of new physical humans born here on Earth, as large as that may seem to our minds, 7 billion humans and far more throughout history, is nothing compared to the number of spirits. Because there has been a countless number of universes that have existed prior to this one. All of those spirits are still around.
And there’s a cult of youth. We are all kings of an immense, intricate community of spirits. Just as young people are mythologized by old people here, spirits are constantly hanging around us, because our sheer energy is endless, we’re forever discovering things that ancient spirits have long known forever. Nothing is new to a spirit, but experiencing things through our eyes and minds, and participate in the turmoil of our minds, allows them to continue enjoying the things they love.
Which is why it’s so important for us to discover what we love while we’re here. Not a huge huge deal if we don’t, but the more we can discover and do here, where we’re least in touch with the deity and the endless power and ability that provides, the more energy we can provide ourselves with in the afterlife.
It’s a good thing to believe. Not always from an Earthly perspective, our beliefs can get us maligned and made fun of by our peers. But our beliefs are literal spiritual energy, the motivation to explore and discover draws countless spirits to show up and help out.
And it doesn’t really matter what you believe. The beliefs ripple out into the world of spirits and you’ll amass a veritable army to do all the heavy lifting of manifesting the beliefs into the world, mediated of course by the Lord. Your own level of spiritual development will have a huge role to play in what the Lord can allow to manifest, but the Lord’s touch is light, the spirits have a lot of latitude in shaping your raw desire into something manifestible. There’s always more headroom than you think.
So in a very real way, all of us, every human on Earth, is a god. It’s just that some of us have a better perception of that than others.
But just as an eternal afterlife is a thing, so is reincarnation and rebirth. Once spiritual existence ceases to work for us, we fall into a sleep from which we awake into another body, to do it all over again. Infant gods we become again.
As we progress spiritually, it takes us less and less time for each new existence to attain mastery, and then less time after we attain mastery to get bored, more interesting are our lives, and afterlives, and spirits.
