Is there a way to not be clingy or overbearing?

When you’re getting to know a girl, avoid completely open-ended questions like “hey, how are you?” They place the responsibility for moving the interaction forward squarely in her side of the court, and she’s only going to respond as she is motivated to.

There’s a bit of an art to creating connections with people you don’t know well yet. You need to be interesting enough, but careful to not overwhelm her with your need for feedback. At the same time, you need to actually get feedback because otherwise the conversation turns one-sided.

Do it enough times and it’s like riding a bike, until then, you’re in a fight with your own nerves to make something happen. Just keep fighting and eventually you’ll get the trick of it.
