Is eternal life a punishment or a gift?

It is… quite the gift.

It’s not just you that gets to live forever. It’s everyone. Clear your mind of the silly religious fiction that only those who demonstrate good morals get to live forever. It certainly takes good morals to go to heaven, but nobody really perceives their place in the spiritual world as anything else. Everyone goes where they find it easiest to live the life they love the most. Physical ailments that you may have had here don’t have any hold on you there. It is the state of your mind that determines who and where you are in the afterlife.

Your existence is a spiritual one, our physical existence is just that which we believe is important. That’s just as true here as in the afterlife. It’s just that in the afterlife, there’s no physical ‘stuff’ to get in the way.

This means, among other wondrous things, that you never get bored. Time and space do not have the same hold on us. So things take as long as you would like them to take. If you want to spend the next hundred years perfecting the French omelette, there’s nothing stopping you. If you want to spend the next thousand years diving into some obscure corner of existence, you’ll find nothing but support and love.

You get as much structure as you need, as much freedom as you wish. What this provides for is a sense of sustainability to everything you do. Have you ever gotten caught up in some really fun thing where the hours just melted away? Long periods of time, that felt like really short ones? That’s the afterlife, all the time. There’s no ‘real world’ to come back down to, unless you want it to of course!

Everybody who has ever lived is there, people who know unbelievably well what your mindset is from just how you present yourself. Have you ever had difficulty communicating, like nothing you say was really understood? Doesn’t happen in the afterlife, communication happens across as many channels as you need it to. When I was a kid I dreamt of being able to communicate by creating movies in my head for other people to experience. These movies would take years and years of focused study and practice to make, but in the afterlife it all just gets conveyed. There are far more efficient ways.

You will get to experience all kinds of wonders and, when your mind and spirit are ripe for it, the hells too. We have day and night in the afterlife just as we do here. When the positives of existence start to seem trite and unfulfilling and transparent, you fall into a darker phase where you interact with people that aren’t so nice all the time. It’s perfectly safe, but it might not seem like that all the time, and you can walk on the wild side and have adventures in an underworld perfectly suited to our mindset. Creativity and purpose are built during these episodes that you then take back with you topside.

In short, this life in this physical realm, is only around to prepare us for the amazing experience when all the limitations are shed off like a snake molting its skin. And it lasts as long as we can possibly allow it to. When we’re done we’ll forget it all, we’ll experience it as a gradual loss of form, and get born again into a new body, to do it all over again. The universe is billions of years old and will last billions more. Physicality is subject to God, so when the physical world ends, another one will simply begin again. And our by-then sleeping and formless beings will find new form with even more potential than our last bodies did.
