Why do most software developers hate their jobs?

If you want my honest answer, it’s because they don’t know and can’t understand just how good they have it. We are honest-to-god wizards, but even wizards can lack self-respect.

Give a developer a job 90% of his peers would kill for, and he’ll spend all day every day looking that gift horse in the mouth and checking it’s feet, looking so hard for a contingent of Greeks that he’s getting positively veterinary with that poor thing.
