Don’t ask for intellectual rigor from atheists, it’s all a smoke and mirrors game. I can summarize the position of atheism as follows.
“Don’t ask me to think about things I don’t want to think about.”
It’s the last bit of that statement that’s important. Why can’t we be more specific? Because atheists don’t want to think about it! Is it just gods, or is all spirituality verboten to atheists? Don’t know, don’t care. It’s too hard of a concept to consider, can we please just talk about some science or something else that’s more meaningful?
It’s not that atheists aren’t religious, they are, they just call it fandom. I’ve never met a group of Christians that loved going to church as much as Star Wars fans love to obsess over Star Wars. It’s not that atheists aren’t spiritual, they are, their study materials are science fiction books rather than real spiritual texts.
Atheists just want to be in control of the thoughts going through their head. Anything not physical scares them, so they push it all away in the name of something intellectual-sounding.
