There’s this thing called Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. It’s a fascinating idea if you think hard enough about it. Fact of the world is, it’s hard to take love seriously when you can’t put food on the table.

Lifestyle changes are rough. They make you call a lot of things into question. When you have to start asking other people for help, it’s humiliating. You want to start finding other people to share the blame with. It’s hard to keep up the magic of a working relationship when it’s so obviously not working.

Relationships can’t ignore the real world.
