Why shouldn't you call a girl cute when she's angry at you?

You can but be careful about it. You don’t want to look like you don’t take her concerns seriously.

This is a gambit you play after she figures out she can get what she wants from you just by getting amped up emotionally. After a few weeks of letting her power trip, you turn the tables on her by not responding the way she wants you to respond.

You want to plan it out a bit. Set it up so you are reacting in a way that you know is going to get her going. For example, say she’s been using anger to get you to agree to go to the restaurant she wants to go rather than letting you pick every once in awhile.

Before you do this, pick out where you want to go, and make sure it’s a place that’s you know will be acceptable to her. Then go through the predictable conversation where you say the restaurant you really want to go, watch her get mad, then drop the “aww, you’re so cute when you’re mad” bomb.

If you have a history of wheeling back and just submitting to her will, this will make her mouth drop, she won’t know how to respond. The natural reaction here is to double down on the anger. Don’t give her that chance. Just before she’s about to respond, be like, “oh, fine, we can go to <acceptable-choice> then.”

She may or may not wheel back herself and agree to go to the place you want to go, but you’ll have sent the message that you’re wise to her tricks.

If she persists in getting mad to get her way, then you can keep responding in disrespectful, but loving tones. If she wants to be a child, you should feel free to treat her like one.

Be careful that you don’t turn into a power-mad lunk of idiocy yourself.
