I think he’s got a good point. The emotional center of the brain wants things that the logical part of the brain finds, well, irrational. It is through experiencing these irrational things that the logic brain learns how to make sense of them, then they stop seeming so irrational.
Once the process is complete, the irrational brain starts off with another weird illogical thing to fall in love with. Trying to be wise about it often just makes it too complicated for either brain to handle. My stance on it is that is to allow for space for your inner kid to play, and let your wise part be a good parent and just not let the kid bring Crazytown back with him into the rest of his life. At some point you have to get it together.
