Was it wrong of me to end a relationship because it was boring?

No. You should feel free to end any relationship at any time for any reason. You have nobody to answer to for your actions in this regard but yourself. Me telling you why you should or shouldn’t end a relationship is just silly. Relationships need to serve your needs, if they don’t, then that’s all the justification you need for a breakup.

Now, the manner in which you break it off is definitely has ethical considerations. Breakups are stressful events and you can make the emotional hit on the other person harder than necessary. If you are crazy or irrational in your communication, that will hurt the other person more than necessary.

I don’t know of a “best” way to break up with someone, but not bad ways seem to typically involve a statement of “it’s not you, it’s me.” Don’t be insincere though. Stay tactful rather than being insincere. Tact is your baseline, tactful truth is the gold standard. If you can’t be tactful, don’t try for truth.
