Sure, it’s not that preposterous. We don’t really know what consciousness is so it’s at least somewhat plausible for it to not be fully physical. It’s even possible now to make fairly rigorous arguments that it can’t be totally physical.

Once you’ve gone that road then it’s only a short distance to afterlifes, heaven, and reincarnation. I personally believe in all these things.
