How much importance should independent women give to their looks to find the better half? I got friendzoned twice and I care little about my looks.

I’m going to be the bad guy here and say yes, you need to pay attention and look your best. Especially since you said you are “independent.” Otherwise you’re fighting against biology.

You’re already fighting against culture because you want to be independent, fighting biology too means you are going to reduce your dating pool down to men who don’t care about looks and who are also patient enough to deal with a pain in the ass.

I love my girlfriend, I love her independence, but it’s also a pain in the ass (mostly because of ridiculous expectations) and I definitely wouldn’t put up with it if I didn’t already love her, and I would have never have fallen in love with her if she just wasn’t absolutely delightful to look at and hold and flirt with.

Pick your battles carefully. Don’t fight everything at once.
