Could god give us some kind of power?

God doesn’t really give you powers. You develop the ability to be more perceptive as your level of consciousness grows. Think about how wisdom is gained. When you’re young, you don’t really know a whole lot about the world. As the years pass, you see things with the weight of your previous interactions and experiences.

Level of consciousness is like that, but your level is something you’re born with and carry with you through incarnations. With each incarnation, your old self fades away. When I was in the Air Force a million years ago, my self was very very different than it is now. But my level of consciousness, and therefore, my perceptive powers, were very similar. Consciousness grows slowly over a much longer period of time than the human life. That people are born with differing levels of consciousness is the main evidence to consider when contemplating reincarnation.

What happens is you’re born here, you die here, then you’re reborn in Heaven, then eventually you are reborn from Heaven back here. This is the Hindu concept of samsara and there are Christian and Jewish strains of thought that also came up with this. It was also a plot point in the NBC/Netflix comedy The Good Place.

Each incarnation has experience continue unbroken, but the previous self loses relevance and is forgotten. Before we acquired the ability to become human, we spent incarnations as simpler beings. Each kind of being has goals and such that provide grist for the mill of consciousness growth.

Any time you think of a spiritual ‘ability’ what you’re really considering is a form of perception. Sense input gets processed by the mind and the inner reaction to what’s sensed has an energy of its own, providing for a subconscious feedback loop. Think about how people interact with dogs. Dogs can sense our energy, so when we have a negative, ugly energy, dogs will pick up on that. It’s a feedback loop of sense / perception / response.

Spiritual ‘powers’ are that happening with the world around you. It’s a dense web of heavily-contextual interaction.

What God often does do is ‘manage’ the process, so as to ‘present’ our perceptive abilities in ways we can start to understand and use cohesively. Think about chakra exercises. Chakras aren’t physical things, they’re energetic ‘centers’. They develop to the extent that our minds incorporate them into our thoughts and beliefs. They ‘consist’ of what we call correspondences. When the top of your head feels funny and weird, if you’ve done chakra work, then you will process that as divine energy flow. If you feel it low in your stomach, then your mind will be pulled towards baser, ‘sacral’ feelings.

Energy is mental feeling and belief made physical. Your ability to develop energetic perception relies on your level of consciousness, and your willingness to develop them relies on how your self developed. People who are materialistic in belief won’t connect sensation to correspondence. Doesn’t mean they can’t perceive and sense stuff, it’s just their beliefs won’t allow them to connect it all together.
