There are two things that software industry employers look for above all else in applicants. Professional experience and a college degree. Literally everything else is secondary.

Take it from me, a guy who, without a college degree, managed to finagle his way into a web development career seemingly purely on luck and the fact that I’m really really smart, finish your degree. Since I started my career, I’ve not had a single coworker that didn’t have one.
