One way to do this is to develop a sense of humor about it. You might try to ape his swagger a bit and ‘compete’ with him. Call him ‘bro’ and ask him about whatever football game just happened back then, you don’t even have to pretend to know anything about football.

The idea is to pretend to be friendly while really blunting the impact of his actions and intentions. If he starts to get mad at you you can call your girlfriend over for a bit or ask her a question or something, guys generally won’t start fights or get belligerent in front of females.

Think of it as a pro-wrestling video game. The guy has a certain amount of stamina when he gins up his nerves to go hit on the hot chick. Then all of a sudden you jump him, not with a chair, but with something he wasn’t expecting. That’s gonna knock a lot of the fight out of him.

Off balance, he’s going to fight to get it back. That’s when you bring your girlfriend into it to finish him off. He might try to hit on her, but with you in the conversation, not going away, it’s going to throw him even more off balance and uncomfortable with the weirdness of the situation.
