When did atheism start to become mainstream and popular?

I’d say it started happened when the Internet started getting big. I don’t think people really have an adequate understanding of what life was like before the Internet. I was in middle school when I first found the Internet, and it wasn’t until I graduated that I really felt at home there.

The Internet got a lot of people together, what do they do? Gripe about their lives. What do people mostly gripe about? Their families. What’s one of the most visible aspect of what people don’t like about their families? Religious nonsense.

The Internet took what was already a badly damaged institution, religion, and put the final nails in the coffin for its respectability.
