Should I date unattractive girls just to get experience?

I used to go for this line of thought. But the psychology of dating and crushes just doesn’t work that way. All you’re doing is confusing the girl and getting nothing out of it. You aren’t making it any easier for you when you finally do find an attractive girl.

Just find a girl you’re attracted to and push through the difficulty. It’s the only way, really.
