What is a guy's thought process when he friend zones an attractive girl?

I am not surprised it happens either.

The reality is we can only have relationships with so many people. When you have lots of options, your criteria get more and more restrictive. Relationships are tricky things to navigate and playing a role and following rules might be too much to ask a guy for when he’s not totally 100% sure he’s going to get what he needs from her.

I am in an non-committal relationship with a girl and I have lots of wonderfully attractive female acquaintances / friends that probably will never start relationships with even though I could, just because what I need isn’t compatible with them. They might become compatible in the future, but right now they’re not, so I keep it friendly.

It takes a long time to find compatibility. Once you’ve gotten all your sexual jollies out of your system you start looking deep at yourself and figure out what you want out of life. Then once you figure it out, you have to actually meet that person. On the way you meet a lot of people who turn out to not really 100% do it for you.
