I have feelings towards a girl from my class and she is giving me mixed signals. She has shown me some signs of liking me, like staring at me all the time in class, but when I asked her out to the movies, she denied me. What should I do?

Guys are really dull and dense and stupid when it comes to this sort of thing. The only thing that allows them to have any sort of success at all is willingness to learn and persistence. Don’t give up in your attempts to get her to respond to you. But don’t keep doing it the same old stupid ways either.

Guys are always all like, “She didn’t respond exactly the way I wanted her to so that means she’s giving me mixed signals.” She’s not. She just turned you down for a specific date. It was up to you to figure out why she turned you down. Was it because she doesn’t watch movies? Was she just not free that date / time?

You have to work out a way to get from the glances and pure non-verbal part of interaction to having actual conversations. If you can’t give her fun conversations before going on a date, she’s not going to think you’re going to be very fun on the date either. So work on that too.
