I recently discovered I can harness energy in my hands and use it on others and they can feel it. Can someone enlighten me to what is going on?

This is basic reiki. I used to play around with this way way back in the day with my spiritually-minded discussion group / clique. To go past the basics you need to take a decent course. Sadly I cannot offer a recommendation. It's not something you are going to get very far with with online training materials either, though they probably can't hurt.
