How can I get a junior software job with ample business startup and consulting knowledge in Houston?

If you have software or web development skills, then go ahead and start contacting recruiters. If you don’t have them, you basically have two choices. You can self-study or you can go to code school.

Software engineering is probably out of your reach at the moment, you’d need to get a CompSci to get taken seriously.

If you want to go the self-study route, then in my opinion the best way forward is to get a job as a QA tester. You get exposure to the world of software and, because QA testing can’t really take up all your time, you’ll have plenty to pour into your studies.

Another option is project management. You should be able to land a PM job with your current skill set.

But “business startup and consulting knowledge” just won’t be enough to cut it for a software or web development job. You don’t have to be 100% productive on day one, but there’s just too much to learn for any firm to be able to teach you how to work with software.
