Why don't I want others to fall in love with me when I'm in love with someone?

Social situations are tricky and require complex emotional thinking to process and navigate. When you’re in love with someone you only want to have to expend that energy on one person. Having to do it with a bunch of people is exhausting.

You would think that someone being in love with you could just add to your life and not make demands of it. But it rarely works out that way. We want relationships that fit our needs, and other people don’t just meet our needs without us having to communicate them.
