When god asks someone to do something, does he cross a barrier and infringe on one's free will?

He doesn’t have to.

When you ask someone to do something, there is a range between ‘asking’ and ‘telling’. You can ask them sweetly, you can put a gun to their head and order them to, or do something in the middle.

At some point, the person you’re asking is going to do what you asked, it’s just a question of where on the spectrum you put your request. If it doesn’t reach that threshold, then they can choose freely.

If God requests for you to do something, it generally falls underneath the threshold. We call people who have God literally compel them to do something crazy. It’s not God telling them to do something, it’s their brain going haywire.
