At sixteen I was working as a grocery bagger making money off of tips. There was an arcade next door that sucked up most of the other baggers’ earnings. I played Area 51 where a buck would keep me entertained for an hour or two. I kept mine in a little box in my house, but kept some for myself so that I could have a little fun. I bought a few things with it like a Nintendo 64 and a handful of games, but I saved probably somewhat more than half of it and bought this when I was 17:
Not the actual vehicle, I’d have to bug my mom for a pic if she still has one.
It was ten years old and cost me $850. It stayed parked until I graduated high school and got my driver’s license but got me to and from college for the year that I went until I joined the Air Force.
At sixteen, if I had been given $1000, I probably would have put it in the box, bought a few more video games, and gotten a slightly better vehicle.
