Does being enlightened mean I have full control over my subconscious mind? Why or why not?

No, it doesn’t.

Enlightenment is a function of constant surrender. Surrender means that you are aware that you are not in control and are just fine with not having that control. You are capable of doing stuff, of having stuff, of wanting stuff, and you are also capable of turn-on-a-dime deciding that you now don’t want them.

Surrender gives you a unique perspective on the world and yourself. Including your subconscious. Part of the spiritual journey involves acquiring more and more perception of these spiritual correspondences. These inflame the ego and being becomes identified more and more with these ‘abilities’, which are really just new ways of seeing rather than new things you can do.

But because you were identified as a spiritual person, when you’re denied the beatific vision that your new correspondence toy seduces you into believing, you’re plunged into the Dark Night, where you learn a new pathway to greater surrender. Eventually a new correspondence manifests and you start the cycle again.

These correspondences often involve the subconscious. This control, that the conscious wishes over the subconscious, however, is precisely the sort of thing that leads to the Dark Night.

Enlightenment is harmony between the two functions, not one conquering the other. Hence the need for the spiritual journey which cycles between unfathomable highs and lows. They are like two unbeatable superheroes fighting each other until they run out of breath and realize they’re the best friend the other has.
