I don’t believe you can.

So, an important concept that one has to understand before they can really grow is the difference between infatuation and love. When you are infatuated with someone, you don’t really see the whole person, rather you’re seeing a version of them that you’ve idealized. The reason people do this is because they want to be in love more than they’re interested in loving somebody.

The focus is on the individual and the mental ideas and pictures they have in their heads, and not on the complex interpersonal dynamics of an actual relationship. That person you are infatuated with might have commitment problems, or they are super messy, or they’re really promiscuous, but the infatuated person doesn’t see any of that, just what’s on the outside. Love happens when two people really understand all these kinds of things about each other and loves them anyway. Until then it’s just a crush.

So if you’ve never met someone, how could you possibly see enough of the person to where you can fall in love with them?
