God doesn’t create religion, we do. They’re a reflection of, and solution for, problems engendered by culture. Enduring religions change with the times so they can appeal to more than one culture.
Early Christianity shares practically nothing with today’s Christianity except for the name, even the Bible has gone through massive amounts of revision since then. Really early Christianity didn’t even have the Bible.
Spirituality is a natural consequence of how our brains work, and religion is a natural consequence of how most pre-modern societies worked.
