Why won't liberals give Donald Trump a chance?

After watching American political behavior fairly closely now for three election cycles, I have come to the conclusion that partisan politics plays tricks on the mind and makes people act more irrationally than they would otherwise. People’s willingness to accept sky-is-falling rhetoric is way greater when it’s their political leanings that are called into question. And the same people you see saying stuff like “Nobody is giving Obama a chance!” are the same ones crying “Donald Trump is not my president!”

It’s just ridiculous. I have been reading about how wars like the American Revolutionary War for Independence started, and just how much herd mentality was involved. People’s willingness to hold onto unique, nuanced positions goes out the window as it becomes more and more likely they’d lose.

Very few people take the time and effort to earn a historical viewpoint. Nor do they take the effort to really examine someone independently. So they get mired in other people’s efforts to shape the narrative and take advantage of people’s strong sense of justice to score political points.

Something changed for me when I read on Quora that Donald Trump is, hands down, the most transgender-friendly presidential major political candidate to ever run. People have gotten so wound up in their perceptions that they failed to pay attention to fact. I’d call it sad, but this is American politics at it’s best. It really has never been better than this. Compared to the Obama campaign and the shit that got slung around there, this is tame.
