Will Apple put an iPhone plant in America while Trump is POTUS?

It’s not inconceivable. With enough incentives, Apple would be foolish not to. California is a horrible place to do agriculture. The land is barren, rainfall is hard to come by, none of the crops grown in California are actually native to it.

But with the dizzying array of subsidies that the state offers growers, starting a farm in California is probably one of the safest businesses you can get into. Californians pay a lot of tax money for their Little House on the Prairie fantasy, all of it going into the pockets of people who don’t need more of it. And then turn around and blame each other for the water shortages they have every year to boot instead of the greedy growers. Never underestimate the willingness of Americans to endure unnecessary hardship to preserve nostalgia.

Trump can offer Apple a deal they can’t refuse. It’s just a question of how much he’s willing to sell out the American people to a bunch of billionaires. Apple makes a lot of money, but it’s nothing compared to the federal budget.
