Do girls like guys who are straightforward when admitting their crush on them?

You don’t just walk up to a girl and tell her you have a crush on her. I learned this lesson the hard way with the first girl I ever asked out. The first words I ever said to her were, “do you want to go to the homecoming dance with me?” She just laughed.

The second time went much better. I was hanging with a friend, and we started talking to this girl and her friend. We talked for maybe an hour and danced a little. I admitted later to my friend that I was thinking of asking her out. Two days later every kid I knew was on my ass to go ask her out. I did and she said yes.

The third girl I talked to a few times then asked out. She said ‘let me think about it’. When I pressed her later she said no.

The fourth girl I never bothered asking out. I was at a party and I was talking to this girl. At some point I grabbed her and put her on my lap. She stayed there all night. We saw each other at school for the rest of the school year. Downside to this method is nothing is clear, communication is just way more difficult. I tried kissing her once, she pulled away and I never tried again.
