Why does my single father repeat the same mistakes with women?

At that age, changing how you interact with others and how you see yourself is all but impossible. Not that you couldn't do it if you wanted to. But because there's pretty much no reason to want to.

It's pretty hard at any age, really. I've been seeing this girl on and off for a few years now. In the ‘off’ times, I'll start messing around with other women. I find myself interacting with them the same way I did the other girl. There's some deep seated personality traits that just come out, not much you can do about it. They feel good to express.

With a little bit of luck and some self work, you can find someone that works for you. Trying to change yourself for love never really works out well.
