What is your -until now- secret ambition that you are willing to confess?

I want to change the way we create software. I want to make it super easy for bright coders to maintain huge apps.

Right now there’s a huge bottleneck when it comes to companies and startups. Software development is too hard, and the skills to do it effectively are spread too thin. But every company needs a website, every company needs software. This software is often awful, off-the-rack monstrosities. Ever use your in-car entertainment system? They’re horrible, you always end up just using your phone for everything. That’s dangerous.

The world is increasing being eaten by shitty software. I see it everywhere I go. You can’t even blame the programmers for not knowing what they’re doing, often times crap code is the product of crap software development methodologies. I’ve never met a team that actually used Agile properly.

I think with a new way of writing software, we can start to fix this mess. That’s what I’m working on in my spare minutes. Smarter tools to enable more powerful workflows. Once I can make it work for myself, I’m going to strike out for myself as a consultant. Then I’ll hire the brightest guys I can off the street and teach them how to code. Once I have a good, solid methodology ready I’ll share it with the world.
