What can I do to start loving Mondays?

Get a job you love. Then you’ll love going into the office. Best book I’ve ever read on how to do this is So Good They Can’t Ignore You, by Cal Newport. He articulates well that the key to job fulfillment isn’t how much money you make or whether you have “passion” for it, but how good you are at doing it.

I am really, really good at programming. And I get better all the time. So at work, I can spend maybe an hour or two on doing my job duties, three or four on what’s called deliberate practice, making myself even better, and still have a few left over for answering Quora questions, reading articles, or just goofing around. Sometimes I’ll even skip the practice and just slack all day.

I feel like the week structure works really well for me. By Monday morning I’m refreshed and ready to start another cycle of professional doing and growing. I think if we had three day weekends I’d probably get bored at some point and want to go back to work.
