If Russia invades the Baltic states tomorrow, would NATO attack with nuclear missiles immediately?

Russia can’t invade the Baltic States tomorrow. It doesn’t have a military set up to do that. They need to build up first. That takes time. NATO is going to notice. NATO will build up it’s conventional military presence to match. There is no way that Russia is going to be able to outspend NATO. Therefore if Russia’s elites have any grand plans for empire, they’re going to have to just keep it to themselves.

Moreover, the Russian people have no appetite for war. Russian war hawks would have to whet the people’s appetite for war by feeding them propaganda. That’s the only way they could build up their military. An invasion force requires a massive army, those soldiers have to come from somewhere. We’re going to notice that and respond appropriately.
