I've been on dates w a guy I like but im not positive he has a huge thing I’m looking for in a partner. Should I end it before the possible heartache?

I'd make sure first. There are two questions you want to answer here. First, whether he actually has or doesn't have what you're looking for. Second whether you actually need it or not. A lot of times we cheat ourselves out of happiness by placing unreasonable expectations on others. If your heart really can't be in it, then it's a deal breaker, but if you are still hooked,and it sounds to me like you are, I'd say give him a shot before you bounce.

Heartbreak isn't the worst thing in the world. It makes us stronger in the long run. You shouldn't make relationship decisions based out of fear of getting your heart broke. That's just a recipe for a boring life.
