How do I talk to strangers without interrupting their original conversations?

Listen in unobtrusively but not creepily, then chime in with something interesting and on-topic. Don’t try this if the discussion is personal, only if it’s about something that everyone can relate to like politics or food or something.

If they’re talking about family or such, just leave them alone.
