You have had a spiritual experience, not an awakening. Spiritual experiences tease the mind, while awakenings blow it wide open. They’re as far from “blocked” as you can imagine.

Awakening inverts the spiritual and the mundane, the mundane thus becomes a refuge, whereas before, the spiritual is a refuge from the mundane. When you go looking for the spiritual, you’ll have a number of experiences, each one more wondrous than the last, each one making you despair for the one true experience, the one we call awakening.

As for direction, there is only one, the direction you’re already moving in, the direction taking you from your false self to your true self. Finding this is a ways past awakening, at that point on the journey called enlightenment. Once enlightened, there are no more directions to move in, you’re fully harmonized with self and spirit.

When awakened, you have no trouble discerning where to go, and a number of Dark Night episodes occur when progress is denied until ego is relinquished, this process happens outside of conscious control, so it just sucks all around. A number of people are internally resistant to enlightenment, their demons circle back and continue to haunt them no matter what they do. These we call Dark Night Yogis.

If you want an insight into how it works, imagine thinking your way to playing harmony on the piano. It’s not a matter of theory or brilliance, it’s a matter of relaxing and letting your subconscious take charge. This is how a Dark Night Yogi can be awake and aware, knowledgeable about self and purpose and spirit, yet still haunted, unable to just be well.

As for a reading, let me see if I can pick some things out. My mind is sticking on pears, singing, an argument, perhaps one you weren’t a part of, and some kind of small bird, perhaps a bluebird or a canary.
