What your’e looking at there isn’t enlightenment, but rather the needs of the media industry. Just as enlightenment won’t stop you from being killed if someone should put a bullet in your brain, the media won’t put someone on the air for a prime time interview or do a photo shoot for a book cover or virtually anything until they’re looking their absolute best. It’s literally their business, it costs them nothing and the penalties for not doing it are severe, for the media outlet.
I’m sure Osho et al would have been perfectly fine without all of that but when faced with an intransigent producer making demands, even enlightened people are going to pick their battles. Insisting on not looking your best isn’t going to be one of them.
