How is god different from the modern day tyrant?

God is omniscient, while a tyrant is ruled by ego like all of us are, and therefore cannot not see anything beyond it.

Good rulers can see outside the self, a manager is a better manager when they can understand who it is they are managing. Otherwise they just say and do and make happen things that they can see and ignore everything else, rationalizing their weakness. (I’m the boss if they were doing their job right…)

Modern day tyrants, well, they’re so far removed from people’s lives that there’s just no point in caring one way or another about them. They only care about their rich friends. Maybe those rich friends will have ideas that make everybody’s lives marginally better, but marginal isn’t enough to get excited over.

It’s only in a country like the United States, where there is the presumption of democracy, where people think they actually have a choice beyond Tweedle Dee and Tweetle Dum, where if a large number of people actually love and want an asshole like President Trump to succeed, where those effects aren’t marginal. Trump’s “locker room” attitude made a whole bunch of people think sexual harassment was okay.

And worse, tyrants tend to appropriate the symbolism of God, horrifically, in order to callously make people feel better about his disgusting actions. Not very long ago, during a nationwide protest against police officers believing they’re above justice, President Trump used the power of the state to send troops to brutalize protesters, as they were in the way of his wanting to get a photo op, at a nearby church. He picked up a Bible, pretended it was actually worth something to him, let them take pictures, then shambled back to the White House. It was disgusting and shocking.

Jesus spoke of a kingdom where God rules, not an imperfect human sinner. Not your pastor, not your parents, certainly not that idiot Trump. If you want to live in a world in which God is the Lord and master of everything, you have to accept Him into your heart. Let Him guide you, not all these other nutjobs.

If anything is truly going to change this world, it’s going to be the collective actions of a group of people who believe in better and are willing to listen to their inner divine selves to help bring that along.

The tyrants will have their pound of flesh, but as Jesus said, Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s. At the end of the day, it’s just money. Money doesn’t make life great, God makes life great.
